Oslo – Herring – Sculpture

Cool weather in the North Atlantic, but it was sunny and beautiful. I had a great lunch of marinated raw herring fillets with onion and beet relish.  Mmmmm.

Olso has lots of public sculpture. Unfortunately, I did not have time to visit the Sculpture Garden, but I did come across this interesting sculpture. The brickwork was rippled, like waves. Very nice.

Today’s theme: Underground in Hamburg

Sorry. No photos from Hamburg’s red light district. The photos below are underground and under water: Rathaus subway station and Elbetunnel (under the Elbe River). The tunnel was built in 1911, and connects the shipyards to the main part of town across the river. It has some great, large ceramic bas relief tiles. I will post some photos soon.

Eiffel Tower

Hey… it is an icon. I had to paint it. It was a nice bright spring day, a bit cool. I stood on the bank of the Seine for this view. Same spot as I took the photo in a previous post. The photo was actually merged from several photos because this location is too close for a single shot, at least with my camera. Fortunately, that is not a problem with drawing.
