How the commission process works
- Please read “About a commission” below.
- If you want to commission a painting or have questions, please email me.
- For those commissioning a painting, we will set up an appointment to talk about the details, and I will send you a blank draft of the contract.
- Once we are in complete agreement on the details, I will email you with the final contract. Once you agreed to the contract and pay the deposit, I will begin work on the painting. A painting takes about 6 to 8 weeks.
About a commission
- I accept commissions for oil paintings only.
- My painting style is nontraditional. Please see the Other Ways of Seeing Gallery on my homepage for examples. Nontraditional means that I do not paint finally detailed or rendered landscapes or portraits that look exactly like a place or a person. My painting style is better suited to things presented in an unconventional or unexpected way.
- I do not provide progress reports or photos because my paintings go through many stages that may or may not look anything like the final painting.
- Prices vary by size, complexity, and other client requests. A 30% deposit is due upfront; the remainder is due at completion.
- Current base prices. Contact me for smaller or larger sizes. Please note that the prices shown here can increase depending on specifics such as special framing.
