I informally “adopt” trees that are growing on land that is for sale. My goal is to record the existence of the trees before they are replaced by progress.
Some of the trees in this project are from the Portland-Based project “Painting to Save The Trees”, sponsored by the Elizabeth Jones Art Center in Portland, OR. The Scappoose trees sit on land that is for sale in Northeast Scappoose, bordering the Scappoose Airport. They are mainly old Oak and Douglas Fir trees. One group of very old oak trees surrounds the graves of three members of a pioneer Scappoose family, a mother and two infant children, al from the mid-1800s.
