Since then I have lived in every part of the United States and traveled to many parts of the world. Despite my misspent youth, I have received many academic degrees (MFA in Painting, PhD in Psychology). I found that I have a large capacity for learning new information because I tend to forget things very rapidly.
About my Art:
I paint perceptions and feelings of places I've been or people I've known. All of my paintings begin as real places or people, but like Marsden Hatley in his New Mexico paintings, I also work from my recollections and feelings. And as Robert Henri so aptly put it, "Drawing is not following a line on the model, it is drawing your sense of the thing." (Artist Spirit).
My travel sketches (except the USA Roadtrip series) are done on location with watercolor because it is compact and convenient yet offers a nice range of expression.
That's about it.
Send me an email. I'd love to hear from you.
Personal History:
I grew up in the wild, wild, west. I spent most of my formative years in the desert around Tucson, Arizona walking with coyotes, chasing snakes, scorpions, and rabbits, crawling into abandoned mines looking for treasure, and hanging with the occasional old time cowboy.
